Make time to discover Georgetown’s intimate but chic dining scene, featuring characterful restaurants, hip bars and cool brunch places that serve both local and international cuisines. The Bottle and Bar Restaurant at Cara Lodge and in-house restaurants of the Georgetown Marriott and the Herdmanstan Lodge offer an atmospheric ambience to local and International cuisines. For a gamut of local dishes, book yourself for the ‘Flavours of Guyana’ night every Wednesday at the Grand Coastal Hotel. Afternoons are best spent at Backyard Café with Delven Adam’s fusion cuisine and cocktails.

Local cuisine

Even the roadside snack shops have an outstanding atmosphere and variety. When you travel beyond Georgetown into the interior of the country, fabulous home-style meals are served in eco-lodges and community-run accommodations. This is soul food, tasty and nutritious and will instantly help you connect with the community or family that you are spending the night with.

For entertainment, locals head to the movie plaza, malls, festivals and art galleries in Georgetown. For music lovers, you need to make your way to the Duke for Wednesday night karaoke, the Ignite Bar at the Pegasus Hotel for live poolside music at the weekends, or the Strip at the Giftland Mall for popular music covers sang by a local band.
